for pulse!!
[ he's had better days, though it's hard to really think about any time before his head felt like it was a vise. honestly, he can't exactly remember when he fell asleep? he's vaguely aware that it's bright though. and he forces his eye open, taking a look around before his next step.
need to be aware if he's alone or not-- and confirming that, see how tight those restraints still are.
he's certain that if he's willing to pull some uncomfortable contortions, he could probably get out. but the question is, how much time until they're back? how much could he get done before then?
he shifts slowly, letting his head droop, and smacking his lips a little to get rid of the taste of blood.
just another day. he signed up for this. ]

[ the compound is crawling with men, but for somebody that isn't made for this sort of shit childe slips in easily. yeah, he enjoys shit stirring and rushing in and causing a scene, but he also knows there's a time and a place. he's not going to put kaeya in jeopardy. ]
[ it takes him half an hour to navigate the place, the map he'd memorized prior to heading in not entirely accurate. not to mention he ran into a brick shithouse of a man that beat him to a bloody pulp. his own head was throbbing and he'd finally managed to wedge his knife in the guy's neck, but god damn. ]
[ finally, he comes to a room at the end of a hall, the two guards standing outside the door easily dispatched. this had to be it. he picks the lock easily and eases the door open, peering into the darkness. ]
Kaeya?

Oh, they let you be my knight in shining armor~?
[ he teases as though he isn't a pathetic, ragged doll version of his normal self. truthfully, it's a little relieving to know that at least this part of the mission was almost done.
he wants to sleep for a week. ]

What the hell happened?

A... complication.
Let's not tarry over it now?

[ he raises his hands up to his face, cupping his cheeks weakly, a pained smile crossing his face. ]
I promise to make this up to you-- but because of who you are as a person, we shouldn't stick around.

Hoh, you think this is funny... [ he stalks over to him and takes a knee, grabbing his head and swiftly cracking it against the wall, splitting it open. he doesn't immediately get up, his head swimming just a bit, but he chalks that up to the burst of adrenaline coming and going. ]
Do you, do you mind, Kaeya? [ the knife... ]
no subject
and then as the knife is pulled out, he presses the cloth to Childe's back, to catch the blood in the meantime. ]
Of course.
[ his voice is muffled as he doesn't lift his head ]

[ He lifts his head as they rise, but still allows himself to lean on him all the same. His bones feel dead tired, and he isn't sure how much he can walk. ]
Enough to leave.
Which, shall we?
[ as he tries to steady himself to walk ]

[ he pauses, looking back to make sure kaeya is still with him. he shudders, feeling a bit strange, but... it's got to be nerves. he's worried about kaeya, clearly. ]

Though, something feels… different in Childe’s posture. But there’s a more desperate part of him that just wants out. ]
This way.
[ he murmurs at their first turn— the sounds of footsteps bringing life to him.
Or, well, low key panic. ]

Or we could find somewhere to hide in here. It's large enough that they might not find us. Signal's jammed so their CVTs aren't working... I really do think you should take 5... [ you look like shit and his concern is mounting. ]

I've had a few days to rest.
Don't worry about me.

But still, this reaction wasn’t what he was expecting.
And it takes all his strength to not collapse at the shove, ]
What are you doing? We don’t need to bother with them.
[ maybe. The nice thing about being forced along is they are faster. But something strange hangs at the back of his mind, that it would be a bad idea to let Childe go back inside. ]
no subject
Just head up to the roof. We should be able to rappel down from there.
no subject
Alright.
[ but the look he gives him is studying his reactions. Like there’s a puzzle there.
You okay, Childe? ]
no subject
You first.

Should I be careful in how I phrase things, then?
[ the closer they get to freedom, the easier it gets. Or maybe his muscles remember how to move— either way, there’s gear to put on and a rope to attach. He just wants out. ]

[ he says, that hint of his usual smugness returning. once the harness is on, he takes the rope in hand. ]
... Unless, of course, you really haven't noticed.

[ he says in response, and leans towards the edge of the building. time to get out of there, before things go even more sideways, after all?
and so, time to rappel down the side of a building. ]

better to deal with it out of sight.
or out of mind, if he's honest. ]
Then, I'll follow you.

Just your common place torture.
[ he says lightly, closing his eyes for a moment. ]
Nothing too serious.
